Pastor Marty Montgomery grew up in rural Papineau, Illinois. He was born in a Christian home and trusted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the early age of four. He attended and served at Faith Baptist Church in Bourbonnais, IL, and was called to the ministry at the age of 16. Pastor Marty then attended Providence Baptist College in Elgin, IL, where he met his wife, Heather. They were married on May 1, 2010, and the Lord has given them two little girls: Kate was born on July 18, 2013 and Josie was born on April 24, 2015. God led Marty and Heather to serve and help for over four years at Foundation Baptist Church, a church planted in Crystal Lake, Illinois. While serving there, God gave them a burden for Illinois’ capital city of Springfield. Realizing God was calling them to plant an independent Baptist church in Springfield, the Montgomerys began raising support as missionaries to help get the church get started. Capital Baptist Church had its opening Sunday service September 20, 2015, and Pastor Marty and his family plan to be here and pastor as long as God will allow them.
